Course Overview

The HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid unit is designed to equip individuals with the essential skills and knowledge to provide effective first aid response in a range of emergency situations. This nationally recognised unit is ideal for those who want to meet workplace first aid requirements or gain confidence in managing medical emergencies.

Through practical and theoretical learning, you will develop the ability to assess an emergency situation, provide initial care, and coordinate with emergency services when necessary. This unit covers essential first aid techniques including CPR, wound management, managing choking, fractures, and other common injuries.

Course Structure & Units of Study

  • HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support (BELS)
  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

The Safe Work Australia Model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the Australian Resuscitation Council recommend that first aid skills be renewed every three years, and refresher resuscitation skills (HLTAID009) be renewed annually. Additionally, ensure compliance with any relevant industry-specific standards and guidelines.

Course Delivery Mode

  • Blended Learning (Combination of online modules and face to face practical assessments)
  • Face-to-Face Classes (Complete both theory and practical in a classroom setting)

Entry Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Provide a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI)
  • Meet language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) requirements
  • You must be able to perform CPR on the floor for 2 minutes on a manikin
