Step-by-Step Guide

To apply for your real estate licence or certificate, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the NSW Fair Trading website at Fair Trading Application Portal.
  2. Click on “Help Centre” located at the top right side of the homepage.
  3. Under “Housing and Property,” select “Forms”.
  4. Go to “Property Services Forms”, which will direct you to the application section.
  5. Choose the correct application form:
    • For Certificate of Registration (COR) (Assistant Agent), select “Application for a Certificate of Registration.”
    • For Class 2 or Class 1 Licence, select the appropriate form based on your completed qualification.
  6. Download the required form or submit your application online through OneGov NSW.

Licence Requirements

Certificate of Registration (Assistant Agent)
  • Completion of five core units from CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice
  • Minimum age of 16 years
  • No prior work experience required

 

Class 2 Real Estate Agent Licence
  • Completion of CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice (18 units total: 5 Core + 13 Electives)
  • Minimum 12 months work experience as an Assistant Agent
  • Evidence of experience provided by a Licensee in Charge (LIC)
 
Class 1 Real Estate Licence (Licensee in Charge – LIC)
  • Completion of CPP51122 Diploma of Property (Agency Management)
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • At least 24 months documented work experience as a Class 2 Agent
  • Submission of an LIC Logbook
  • Must pass the “Fit and Proper Person” test
